On June 18, 2021, a police officer had an accident on the L 188 in Röcken. The 33-year-old police officer was on duty and on a motorcycle. In the village of Röcken, the officer went off the road to the right on his service motorcycle in a left-hand bend, hit a curb, then a bridge railing and then a traffic sign. As a result, he crashed, was seriously injured and became unconscious. Called rescue workers performed resuscitation measures. The officer nevertheless succumbed to the serious injuries.
