THE STORY
Circumstances
On May 28, 2011, Tobias Lagenstein was killed in a suicide bombing in Afghanistan. Tobias Lagenstein was the first military police officer to be killed in action. On March 28, 2018, Emmich Cambrai Barracks in Hanover, Germany, was renamed the Master Sergeant Lagenstein Barracks. This is the first time in the history of the Bundeswehr that a barracks has been named after a soldier killed in action abroad.
