Manuel Kopper (42)

Colleague Manuel Kopper died while on duty on March 17, 2011. As a member of a special task force, he and colleagues were supposed to assist in a house search. As he stood in front of the door of a Hells Angels member, the latter fired shots through the door. Unfortunately, the colleague was standing to the side of the door, so the bullet hit his side area, which was not protected by the shooting vest. The perpetrator was later acquitted by the BGH, as it was assumed that the perpetrator acted in self-defense, as he did not know that the police were standing in front of his door, but assumed that they were opponents.
