The colleague Berthold Schlotzhauer died on January 28, 2000. Together with a colleague, he was on an investigation in a residential building. A man known to the police, who had nothing to do with these investigations, suddenly opened fire on the colleague. The colleague was fatally wounded. The perpetrator executed himself a little later after shooting his ex-girlfriend.
