Frank Hand (26)

On August 10, 1984, Colleague Hand and another colleague were on duty in a patrol car as an armed escort for a mail truck. When both vehicles stopped outside the Drumree Post Office, Co. Meath, to deliver mail, they were confronted by an armed Provisional I.R.A. unit. An exchange of gunfire ensued between the assailants and their colleagues, resulting in injuries to colleague Hand. The injuries of the colleague Hand proved to be fatal.
