THE STORY
Circumstances
On December 21, 1967, Sergeant Joyce and a colleague drove in a patrol car to the Carrickarnon customs post to receive a prisoner. Near Balrothery, Balbriggan, Co. Dublin, their patrol car was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Sergeant Joyce died as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.
