THE STORY
Circumstances
On February 25, 2007, Garda Kelleher attended the investigation of a traffic accident in Barrigone, Foynes, Co. Limerick. The local Foynes Fire Brigade was also on the scene. Garda Kelleher, along with Firefighter Michael Liston, were directing traffic away from the damaged vehicle when a car approached and struck Garda Kelleher and Firefighter Liston, killing them both instantly.
