Stanislav Podeprĕl

According to newspaper sources, on 12 March 1999, about ten minutes after the signing of the treaty on the Czech Republic's accession to NATO, an explosion occurred at the District Police Department of the Czech Republic in Přerov, from the consequences of which Captain Podepřel died. The explosion, and with it the death of Stanislav Podeprel, was subsequently linked to the case of the opponent of the communist regime and former BIS officer Vladimír Hučín. In an interview with the media, he himself described Stanislav Podeprel as an agile member of the SNB who had repeatedly physically attacked him during the communist totalitarian regime. Ludvík Zifčák, a former StB agent, was also reported in the press to have commented on Stanislav Podeprel's affiliation with the extreme left. Left-wing organisations also organised a protest action in front of the BIS building in Olomouc, where they openly accused Vladimír Hučín of Podeprel's death. In addition to the version of revenge that the supporters of the left came up with, Hučín himself also came up with his own version. According to his opinion, Podepřel himself brought the explosives to the service station in order to organise the explosions he wanted to accuse Hučín of or to be eliminated by his left-wing friends with the help of these explosives.According to the official police version, Captain Podepřel died of burns from the explosion of the found explosive systems and his name is inscribed on the memorial to the fallen policemen in the lobby of the Regional Headquarters of the Olomouc Region. Despite the official explanation, there are many uncertainties in the whole case with its political background and it certainly deserves further investigation. According to police records, Captain Stanislav Podepřel died on 2 April 1999, becoming the 63rd police officer to die in the line of duty since 1990.
