On September 5, 1977, Hanns-Martin Schleyer, then president of the German employers' association, was driving to Cologne. Suddenly, the path of his vehicle is blocked. In the vehicle behind, colleagues Reinhold Brändle, Roland Pieler (ODMP.eu) and Helmut Ulmer (ODMP.eu) are sitting as bodyguards for the employer president. Former RAF members immediately shoot at the colleagues. They die in this exchange of fire. As a result, Hanns-Martin Schleyer is kidnapped by members of the RAF. He is later found shot dead.
