On April 7, 1977, the then Attorney General Siegfried Buback is on his way to his office in Karlsruhe. In the vehicle are still his driver and his colleague Georg Wurster, the head of the public prosecutor's office at the time. At an intersection, a motorcycle suddenly stops next to the vehicle and the passenger opens fire on the vehicle with an automatic weapon. Siegfried Buback and his driver died on the spot. His colleague Georg Wurster dies days later in hospital. The act was a terrorist attack by the RAF at the time.
