THE STORY
Circumstances
Colleague Norbert Schmid was shot dead on Oct. 22, 1971, while attempting to arrest terrorists from the Red Army Faction (RAF). Schmid was the first murder victim of the RAF. He was trying to control a suspicious person that day. As it turned out, it was a member of the RAF.
