THE STORY
Circumstances
Heinz Janello was shot by American soldiers at the border on 02.03.1951 and died later from his bullet wounds. There are several versions about his death and the death of his patrolman Werner Schmidt (ODMP.eu). One is that he was shot by American soldiers when he entered West German territory. The other version was that he was shot on the territory of the former GDR.
