THE STORY
Circumstances
The colleague Gerhard Hofert died on 03.08.1949. Together with his colleague he wanted to arrest a suspect at the border to the British occupation zone. This person shot at the colleague, but was overpowered by Gerhard Hofert's colleagues. The colleague Gerhard Hofert was the first colleague of the border troops of the GDR who was killed protecting the border of the GDR.
