The colleague was shot dead by American soldiers at an American checkpoint in Baghdad. Her colleagues in the vehicle later stated that the soldiers had shot at her car without warning. The American version was that the vehicle had not stopped at the checkpoint. A request by the Italian judiciary to be able to question the American soldiers at the checkpoint in Baghdad was denied.
