THE STORY
Circumstances
In 2004, he served in the Polish police contingent of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) as its commander. Shortly before leaving the service, on January 6, 2005, he died of brain malaria in Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, in a Jordanian military hospital.
