THE STORY
Circumstances
He was part of a foot patrol with a partner, patrolling the city center. Two ETA terrorists approached them, shot them at close range, and fled in a stolen vehicle. He was taken to the hospital shot in the head, which caused his death. His severely wounded partner became an invalid after a nearly two-year recovery period.
