Karel Chalupa

On August 29, 1968, he was killed in a collision between a service vehicle and an armored personnel carrier. On the evening of August 29, a Soviet armored personnel carrier in Brno had problems with a flat tire and therefore stopped at a bridge guarded by a military patrol. Public lighting was not working in places, and the Soviet vehicle had not turned on its hazard lights. Sergeant Major Karel Chalupa did not see the van in the darkness and collided with the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
