THE STORY
Circumstances
He was arrested by the Gestapo for shooting the German spy Fridrich Jirschik as part of the reinforcement of the national defense unit. On November 3, 1939, he managed to escape from the prison of the District Court in Vrchlabí. With the support of resistance fighters, he hid for the rest of the occupation period. With forged papers in the name of Rudolf Falta, he moved to Prague, where on May 5, 1945, he again reported for duty at the regional gendarmerie headquarters. After being equipped and armed, he was deployed to defend the Old Town Hall, where he died on May 8, 1945.
