THE STORY
Circumstances
Mari Heesakkers (Peelland base team) passed away on Sunday, 9 May 2021, aged 62.
Mari was told several months ago that he was seriously ill. Research soon showed that he would not recover. Mari quickly resigned himself to this, as he said, \"I have been living in spare time for 40 years after a previous serious illness, so it\'s been nice\".
Mari was a \"no nonsense\" colleague who had worked at the COP of the Peelland team for several years. Before that, he was a neighbourhood policeman in DAS. A passionate, enthusiastic but also down-to-earth policeman and a much-loved colleague who was proud of the police profession. After almost 45 years of service, he considered heading for retirement. It was not to be.
His greatest hobby was being a miller at \"his mill\" Den Evert in Someren, of which he also managed the mill museum.
