THE STORY
Circumstances
On Sunday 7 June 2020, Wil Meulenbroeks (Intake and Service, RSC, Veldhoven) passed away at the age of 61.
Wil had been hospitalised with meningitis last week. He seemed to be doing well, but on the night from Saturday to Sunday, he suffered a brain haemorrhage, which became fatal.
Wil had a voluntary career with us of no less than 35 years. In March, he had been hired as Assistant Intake and Service at the RSC in Veldhoven. After being sworn in, he started there in early June but unfortunately this was to last only a week.
As a volunteer, Wil had been posted in the Kempen, where he had built up quite a track record. Whether it was a traffic control, an event or a GPZ service, he always worked with drive and pleasure. He was a fine colleague to work with.
Wil was also always up for a joke. When he discovered he could order all rank decorations, he would have preferred to order the chief of police\'s, to walk around proudly with it. He didn\'t do that, of course, because he had too much integrity for that.
Speaking for Wil was his sun-tanned complexion and cheerfulness. We also called him the ray of sunshine. He loved running and was therefore always fit and energetic. This made him participate fully in the IBT lessons as well, which sometimes resulted in an injury. Wil was a colleague everyone enjoyed working with. We worked hard and always had a good time with him.
