Rouven Laur (29)

Rouven was deployed with other colleagues in Mannheim on 31.05.2024 to protect an event. There was a knife attack by a man on people at a rally. Rouven and his colleagues tried to arrest the perpetrator in a confusing situation. Due to the confusion, Rouven jumped on a man he thought was the perpetrator. As Rouven knelt on him, the actual perpetrator approached from behind and stabbed Rouven in the back with a hunting knife.
According to press reports, the perpetrator pierced the top of our colleague's skull, causing serious injuries to his brain, among other things. The perpetrator was incapacitated only seconds later by another colleague with a shot from his service weapon.
Rouven was taken to hospital, where he was put into an induced coma. Despite all the efforts of the doctors, nurses etc., he succumbed to the severity of his injuries on 02.06.2024.
