Václav Smrkovský (46)

Member of the gendarmerie, born 21 September 1897, commander of the station Nová Hut\' pod Nizbor, retired from 10 June 1939 due to participation in the Italian Legions. From May 1939 he was active in the resistance group Obrana Naroda (Defence of the Nation) in the so-called Nová Hut\' pod Nizbor company. At the beginning of April 1940, the activities of the organization were exposed and many members were arrested. He was arrested on April 4, 1940 for participation in the organization against the occupation regime. In January 1943 he was sentenced to death. He was executed on 7 June 1943 in Berlin - Plötzensee by guillotine.
