Matěj Vaice

Member of the gendarmerie in Bohemia, born 21 February 1894, member of the Russian Legion. Member of the resistance organisation ÚVOD. In November 1941 he was arrested by the Gestapo. Although he was acquitted of the charges, he was arrested again and delivered to the prison in Prague at Pankrác. From there he was transported to the Small Fortress of Terezín on 23 October 1942 and then on 27 January 1943 to the Auschwitz concentration camp where he died on 28 March 1943. He received the Czechoslovak War Cross 1939 in memoriam.
