THE STORY
Circumstances
Unlike most murders of police officers, Cédric's murder was not an act against "the forces of law and order" but against himself as such. This was a crime of passion. The murderer was looking for the easy way out by going to Cedric's place of work, where he was sure to find him.
It was around 12:30 when Freddy Gaillard, a 45-year-old truck driver, went to the municipal police station to see Cédric, his ex-wife's partner. He stabbed Cédric 24 times in the face, cutting 23 cm of his throat, while he was alone at the police station with his victim.
He then went to a nearby bar and ordered a drink, his clothes bloody. He then went to the gendarmerie in Saint-Arnoult to take himself into custody. The gendarmerie had already been alerted by Cédric's girlfriend, to whom he had already sent a text message.
