Hans van Moorsel

On 25 November 2023, Hans van Moorsel passed away at the age of 62. Since 1982, Hans was a fixture for colleagues in Eindhoven and the surrounding area where he started on the street, but also worked in the criminal investigation department. For the past 13 years, he was a file shaper with the National Forensic
Investigation. In that role, he made a valuable contribution to some high-profile cases, such as the Alphen aan den Rijn shooting and MH17. In 2013, he would briefly assist in the National Forensic Coordination Team for three months, to \"bring forensic order\" to the missing trader case. \"Those three months are still running after 10 years,\" Hans used to tell himself about that.
Hans bit into what he was working on and was also a real file eater. Not only did he keep an overview on paper, but even years later he still shared ready knowledge and details by heart. This \'gründlichkeit\' served him well in recent years. He collaborated a lot with German colleagues in the missing trader problem, the Bundeskriminalamt and the growing network of German-speaking countries we work with. We will miss him, as a colleague, as a connector at home and abroad and above all as a human being.
