Josef Blažek (34)

Member of the Police Directorate in Prague, born 9 January 1908. After the occupation he joined the resistance. He founded an illegal police group working for JUDr. Karel Jarosz, which investigated \"persons of interest\" and persons suspected of collaboration with the Gestapo. He was arrested on 6 May 1940. On 11 June 1942, he was sentenced to death by the People\'s Court for preparation for treason (resistance organisation Defence of the Nation) and was executed by guillotine on 18 December 1942 in Berlin-Plötzensee. He received the Czechoslovak War Cross 1939 in memoriam. A street is named after him in Liberec. Due to his previous work at the Police Directorate in Liberec, his name is mentioned on the new memorial.
