Josef Znoy (45)

Gendarmerie officer, born 16 (19) March 1897, station commander of Velké Karlovice, Vsetín district in Moravia, member of the Italian Legion. During the occupation he was involved in the resistance organisation Obrana národa (Defence of the Nation). He was betrayed by the Gestapo in October 1941. He was imprisoned in Moravská Ostrava and in Brno in Kounic\'s dormitories. He was sentenced to death by a martial court there on 20 January 1942. He was transported to the Mauthausen concentration camp on 3 February 1942 for execution, where he was executed on 7 May 1942.
