Vilém Medek (43)

Gendarmerie officer, born 15 August 1898, district commander in Kroměříž in Moravia, member of the Italian Legion. During the Nazi occupation he was involved in the resistance in the group of Staff Captain R. Vach. On 15 December 1941 he was arrested by the Gestapo for helping Russian paratroopers. On 22 December 1941, he was convicted by the state court in Brno for disturbing public order and security and for the crime of sabotage and treason and sentenced to be handed over to the Gestapo and to have all his property confiscated. He perished on 3 May 1942 in the Mauthausen concentration camp.
