Ivan Papon (36)

On Wednesday 6 September 2023, a number of permanent police officers began a training course at the National Police Motorcycle Training Centre in Sens (Yonne), to acquire this highly selective and demanding speciality. During off-road motorbike training in the woods around Soucy, in sweltering heat, several trainees fell ill. One of them, Ivan Papon, thirty-seven years old and head brigadier at CRS No. 48 in Châtel-Guyon, was taken into care and transported to the hospital in Sens, then during the night to the Pitié-Salpétrière hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An investigation into the cause of death is currently underway.
