THE STORY
Circumstances
He died on 2 June at the hospital in Tolmezzo (UD), where he had been admitted following an illness that struck him while on duty.
On that day, Assistant Chief Coordinator Massimo Sanna was engaged in an inspection service on board a train at the Tarvisio Boscoverde station (UD) when he was struck by a violent illness. He was immediately rescued and then transported to the hospital in Tolmezzo, where he died shortly after admission.
He joined the police force in 1991 and served first at the police headquarters in Palermo and Reggio Calabria and then for about 31 years at the Underwater Operators Unit of the State Police in La Spezia. Since January 2025, he had been serving with the Railway Police in Tarvisio.
Massimo Sanna is survived by his wife and three children from a previous relationship.
