Mark Farrugia

The Police Force remembers the young officer who was murdered 18 years ago. PC Mark Farrugia was shot dead on his parents' doorstep in the early hours of 20 March 1999. PC Mark Farrugia had just returned home from a night shift when he was killed. Sixteen years have passed since Farrugia was fatally shot in the back at close range at 4:45 am. His murderer, who was also a police officer, was sentenced to 22 years in prison. The court found that Farrugia was killed in retaliation for reporting the former police constable for driving without insurance. A monument has been erected in Farrugia’s memory in Tarxien.
