Wim van Oorschot (63)

On December 4, 2020, a good friend of mine in the Dutch police force, Wim van Oorschot, passed away suddenly. He suffered a cardiac arrest at home that morning, shortly before he was about to head to work. He had worked in many different areas, most recently at the Police Academy in Apeldoorn. He was a lecturer and part of a research team, where he gave his all to harmonize police operational theory and practice. Through this, we (that is, the Duisburg Police at the time) received some really valuable input for our field projects. He was 63 years old (just one year older than me...) and was a truly great colleague with a great sense of humor, immense expertise, and always cheerful. A wonderful person whom I still miss to this day.
