Circumstances
On 8 March 2026, whilst on duty at the French Embassy in Beirut (Lebanon), 54-year-old Chief Constable Toni Carnevale was involved in a road traffic accident.
In circumstances that remain unclear, the police officer was riding a scooter when he was hit by a car. A colleague who was with him attempted to resuscitate him before the emergency services arrived, but to no avail.
