THE STORY
Circumstances of death
On January 18, 1934, Garda Michael Kennelly and Sergeant Forde returned to Maam Garda Station after accompanying a patient to Ballinasloe Mental Hospital. They were traveling in a carriage which went off the road due to bad weather. Colleague Kenelly subsequently drowned in a river.
