THE STORY
Circumstances of death
On July 7, 1980, the Bank of Ireland in Ballaghaderreen was robbed by two armed and masked men. About five miles from Ballaghaderreen, the colleague with other colleagues encountered the robbers in their getaway vehicle. It came here to a traffic accident whereby the robbers then shot at the colleagues. The colleague was fatally shot.
