THE STORY
Circumstances of death
On 2002-04-14, the Harcourt Square dispatch center received an emergency call that a burglary was occurring at a residence. A black Mazda was observed leaving the scene. colleague Tony Tighe and colleague Michael Padden waited at an intersection to intercept the vehicle. Shortly thereafter, the vehicle approached and collided with the squad vehicle. Both officers were taken to St. Vincent's Hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival.
