THE STORY
Circumstances of death
On 03.12.1923, Sergeant Woods and a colleague were on duty at Scartaglen Garda Station. That night, the station was attacked by a group of men. The assailants demanded that Woods, a colleague, surrender all of his property, including his uniform. When he resisted, he was shot by one of the men.
