Roland Krüger was a member of the special task force (SEK) of the Berlin police. During the execution of an arrest warrant, he was shot by a perpetrator on duty. Roland was the shield bearer that day. An attempt was made to arrest a man in Berlin-Neukölln. When the SEK team entered the apartment, the perpetrator opened fire. Roland was fatally shot between his helmet and the shield. The perpetrator later tried to explain that he had not known it was the police. Otherwise, he would not have fired. Witnesses, however, testified that they had heard loud "police" shouts on the street several times.
