On the evening of 24 September 2015, the then deputy chief of police Nicola Barbato and one of his colleagues attempted to arrest criminals after racketeering. The colleague was shot and suffered paraplegia. The colleague, who was also honoured with the gold medal for bravery, died as a result of these injuries. |
